Late Nite Lounge Vol. 23 - Finley Quaye

The aural sensations that beset me when I listen to Even After All are difficult to describe. This track is something else. It's smooth, sophisticated, slightly funky vibe, it's laid-back rhythm, the singer's unique way of expressing himself, all contribute to make this track a classic and a mainstay of my late night playlists. For me, Finley Quaye immortalized himself with this track. It's a classy blend of dub and electronica made complete by Quaye's vocal performance, and it goes down chilled like an icy caipirinha. But over the years Finley Quaye has developed a different kind of sound, straying a bit from the obvious dub and reggae influences of his debut album, Maverick A Strike. The song Dice, the other Quaye joint that I love, is the perfect example. Produced in collaboration with William Orbit and featuring English 'folktronica' singer Beth Orton, it leans a lot more towards rock than reggae but is nonetheless a soothing track. Try it out on those long, solitary late night road journeys.

Even After All
Dice

A sensação auricular que me assola quando oiço Even After All é difícil de descrever.

Anonymous, I had a listen to Life w/out Buildings as I had never heard of them, and now I see exactly what you mean.
