Late Nite Lounge Vol. 15: Catya Maré

Catya Maré
The music that this Danish musician creates is beautiful. Catya Maré does an amazing music thing with her violin - she gives it a voice. I've never really listened much to classical music nor its more modern reinterpretation, which is Catya's genre of choice. But what makes her album appealing is how accessible it is: it's her violin mixed with electronica, jazz, Celtic, and new age, among other genres. I think the powers that be call it "classical crossover", and her music has won her several musical awards. It's a soothing listen, and it goes well with those dark, cozy, quiet, winter nights. Light Longing is a lovely companion for that sort of evening, a unique expression of love where the words are sung by her violin. It's on her latest album, Destination Love, available in all those good places where good music is sold (iTunes, Amazon, etc)

Light Longing
