It’s late Saturday night; you just got back from some debauchery elsewhere and you’d like nothing better to just sit back, perhaps grab a drink or a glass of water, and relax. Maybe you have company and just want to sit and talk with him/her about nothing or about everything. Maybe you have a couple of close friends and want to create a late night vibe, low key and loungey but still enticing, like the conversation at hand. These four songs set the mood perfectly, and they also give me an excuse to post songs that I love and have been yearning to share with you but aren’t necessarily in Portuguese...Siempre Me Quedará, by Bebe (Spain) – This was one of the first songs that made me fall in love with electronica and lounge music. Bebe’s slightly raspy Spanish vocals and that acoustic guitar are an alluring combination.
I’ll Be, by Cibelle (Brazil) – Sensuous and seductive, I’ll be by Cibelle, the one of a kind Brazilian songstress that has been featured here before, is a gem of a song. Her singing these sweet nothings to me is my idea of a perfect late night session.
Chiquilines, by Bajofondo feat. Lágrima Rios (Argentina/Uruguay) – My appreciation for Bajofondo is well documented, and this particular track of theirs is particularly soothing whenever I find myself awake at 3am. It features vocals from the late Lágrima Rios, a black Uruguayan vocalist so popular in that country’s candombe scene.
Go Back, by Monica Freire (Brazil) – Monica has a verse in this slow, gentle song in which she sort of just speaks, not sing, and it goes so well with the overall vibe of this piece. The piano arrangement and the faint, trippy beats that are barely audible make this a late night special for me.

É Sábado anoite, ou melhor, é madrugada de Domingo. Acabas de chegar duma noite mexida algures, cançado mais feliz pela noite bem passada. O que apetece mesmo é um copo de água ou talvez outra bebida, para terminar a noite. Se calhar voltaste a casa com compania e apetece conversar sobre tudo e mais um pouco ao som de música suave e sofisticada. Se calhar voltaste a casa com alguns amigos e amigas e queres proporcionar um abiente low-key, low-profile, calmo e suave, sem muito stress e barulho à mais. Algo onde ainda é possível ter uma conversa decente e apreciar a música ao mesmo tempo. Os quatro sons postos aqui satisfazem este desejo. Não são necessáriamente em português, mas pelo menos dão-me uma desculpa de partilhar estas canções que gosto muito mas não tinha porquê postar. Até hoje!
Siempre me Quedará, por Bebe (Espanha) – Esta música é uma das razões que me apaixonei por música electronica e lounge. A voz um pouco rouca de Bebe, em espanhol ainda por cima, com aquela guitarra acústica ao fundo, é uma combinação quase que perfeita, só mesmo porque dizem que a perfeição não existe.
I’ll Be, por Cibelle (Brasil) – Sensual e seductora, esta canção linda da nossa ja conhecida Cibelle é cantado com aquele inlglês de sotaque ligeiro de quem fala português, e é um um som feito para noites em branco como esta.
Chiquilines, por Bajofondo com Lágrima Rios (Argentina/Uruguay) – A minha fãzice (como diz o meu puto Joel) pelos Bajofondo já está bem documentada. Este som deles, feito com samples da voz da falecida Lágrima Rios, uma das poucas cantoras negras do Uruguay e figura incontornável no que toca ao candombe urugaio, é visitante assídua do meu iPod (ou aparelhagem) quando ainda me encontro acordado as 3 da manhã.
Go Back, por Mônica Freire (Brasil) - Várias vezes nesta canção a Mônica Freire não canta mas sim fala, quase que rappa, e o efeito, para uma música calma e lenta como esta, é muito interessante. O piano e o contrabaixo fazem uma parceria comfortável e ao fundo ouve um beat ténuo. É a única música das quatro em que se fala português.
